Dear dog owner,
My name is Caity Hastings, I am an owner and the head dog trainer here at Balanced Behavior Inc. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed and a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. I began professionally caring for and training dogs in 2007, while pursuing my undergraduate degree at Sonoma State University. I started Balanced Behavior in 2013 and as the business grew, I wanted to be able to offer more services such as boarding and daycare. With the help of my husband, our search for a permanent location began. We purchased our current location in 2016. After a few years of planning, getting permits from the Town of Windsor, and finishing construction we were able to open our facility in March of 2018.
With over a decade of experience in the dog training and husbandry field, I have been exposed to and trained hundreds of different breeds and temperaments. I have also worked with other trainers, rescues, and veterinarians. I spend hours each year at dog training conferences so I can continue to learn the latest information in the dog community. I try to seek out as much information as I can so I can offer the best training tools to my clients. I believe there isn’t just one way to train every dog.
I personally own three dogs and one cat. One is an 13 year old puggle named Twix. I also own two working line German shepherds, Jade and Danger, who I compete with in a dog sport called IGP/Schutzhund. Jade currently holds the highest title, IGP 3 and has competed at a National level. Danger currently has his BH (first title in IGP) and is working towards his IGP 1 title. I am also a member of USCA, DVG, GSDCA, and International Association of Canine Professionals.
When not dog training I enjoy spending time with my husband, our daughter Mackenzie, and friends. We enjoy hiking, camping, and traveling.
As a Healdsburg native it has always been my dream to start my own business here in the Wine Country. It is my pleasure, together with my team, to bring these services to you and your dogs. I look forward to getting to know you and your dog(s)!
